We have had a fab week in year 3, meeting lots of new learning and learning lots of new skills.
Reminders
Fr Michael has kindly invited us to attend the Parish mass on Tuesday at 9:30am. It would be lovely if you could join us.
Home Practice
Reading – Please read every night for at least 15 minutes. Don’t forget to record it in your reading diary and change your book regularly!
Maths – We’ve set two challenges on Sumdog this week. They focus on multiplication and division and the x4 and x8 times tables.
Spellings – This week’s spellings all end with -ure. Practise reading and spelling them at home:
Measure, treasure, pleasure, future, enclosure, creature, furniture, cure, picture, nature, adventure, sure, capture, leisure, literature, manicure, departure, puncture, mixture, temperature
This week in Year 3
In English we have been enjoying our novel Toro! Toro! and have been writing in character to retell parts of the story using our own ideas. Check out our gallery for some of our brilliant writing.

In maths we have been learning how to find fractions of amounts. This has been very tricky and we have found that knowing our times tables really helps in lots of different maths learning.
In science we explored light and shadow, investigating how shadows are formed and how moving the light source changes their length and size.

In PE we have been fine tuning our gymnastic performances, making sure to include rolling, balancing, jumping and travelling with stillness and smoothness.
In RE we have been learning about prayer, exploring the Our Father and what the words mean, before creating our own prayer cards to share on Seesaw.
In geography we have continued exploring the physical geography of North America and studied the eruption of Mount St Helens. The children were amazed and asked some fantastic questions.
