This Week in Year 3
We have had another brilliant week in Year 3 with lots of creativity, teamwork and fantastic learning across the curriculum.
In English, we finally arrived at Starjik’s palace in The Ice Palace, and the children produced some wonderful speech sentences and descriptive writing to bring this dramatic moment to life. They worked hard on using punctuation accurately and choosing powerful vocabulary to show how the characters were feeling.

In RE, we created our own Christmas cards and reflected on the meaning of the Nativity. The children also enjoyed practising carols while using some of their drawing with scissors collage skills to design beautiful, colourful artwork. See our gallery.
In Maths, we have been learning all about time. The children explored telling the time to the nearest minute. This can be a tricky concept, but they showed great focus and perseverance.

In Computing, we continued our work on stop-frame animation. The children practised taking clear, careful photographs and learned how tiny changes between frames help create smooth movement. Next week, we will be using toy figures to make our own animations, so please could the children bring in two small toys on Thursday. Thank you!
In PE, we had great fun playing dodgeball and working on our fundamental movement skills. The children practised agility, coordination and teamwork, and it was lovely to see everyone encouraging each other.

In Science, we made our very own dirt puddings to model the layers of soil beneath our feet. This was a messy but exciting lesson, and the children now have a much clearer understanding of how soil is formed and why each layer is important.
Check out all our galleries to see some of the brilliant learning we have captured this week.
