Year 3 Friday Blog
It’s been another busy and brilliant week in Year 3!
Home Learning
Reading – Please read every night for at least 15 minutes. Don’t forget to record it in your reading diary!
Maths – We’ve set two challenges on Sumdog this week. They focus on fluency and statistics.
Spellings – This week’s spellings are revisiting our suffix rules. Practise reading and spelling them at home. We have set a Sumdog challenge for these too!
This week in Year 3
This week in English we have been learning how to write clear instructions, using How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth as our inspiration. We worked hard on our final pieces and even shared them with Year 2 – they were very impressed! Check out our gallery to see our work.
In Maths we have been learning all about statistics. We explored pictograms, block graphs and bar charts, and we’ve even set a Sumdog challenge so we can keep practising at home.
In Science we explored our muscles and their functions. Did you know we have over 600 muscles in our body? We also learned about involuntary muscles, like our heartbeat, that work without us even thinking about them.
In RE we researched the saints of creation and learned how their lives were dedicated to serving God and caring for creation. We studied St Martin, St Thérèse and St Francis of Assisi. Next week we’ll be celebrating St Francis and looking at his Canticle of the Creatures.
In PE we’ve been learning to use our fundamental skills in netball, working on movement, space and teamwork. Super effort, Year 3!
In Computing we explored different devices and how they are useful in our everyday lives. We created posters on Seesaw and had a brilliant discussion about what devices we use at home.
