Home Practice
Well done to everyone who is continuing with their regular reading into the Summer term. 20 minutes every night with your school books will help improve comprehension and fluency.
We have set 2 maths challenges on Sumdog, one on addition and subtraction and one on the x4 and x8 tables.
Practice counting regularly with your child as well. Regular reviews of the number system will help build understanding and number fluency. Sing our songs, play what comes next, count forwards and backwards in numbers and fractions. You can also use this arrow cards resource to help with your counting.

Your spellings this week are all from Key Stage 1. Use the card that has gone home to practise these as well as accessing the spellings on Sumdog.

The Week in Year 3
This week in RE, we explored the story of The Road to Emmaus and thought carefully about how it is mirrored in the Mass. The children made some thoughtful links and showed a good understanding of how this important story connects to our worship.

In English, we have been writing newspaper reports about the pass raid in Journey to Jo’burg. The children worked hard to write in a formal style, thinking about headlines, key facts and how to report events clearly for the reader. Some fantastic pieces of writing were produced.
In Maths, we have been revisiting the formal written methods for addition and subtraction. The children showed great confidence using these methods and were able to explain their reasoning clearly when solving problems.

In Geography, we kicked off our new topic on South America and Rio by exploring the continent and identifying its countries. The children enjoyed locating different places on the map and learning more about this part of the world.

In PE, we have been practising our striking and fielding techniques. The children worked on their throwing, catching and teamwork skills, showing great improvement throughout the week.
In Art, we started our new topic using natural materials. We went outside and used grass, petals, flowers and moss to create colour and patterns. The children loved being creative outdoors and produced some lovely pieces of artwork.
In Computing, we learned all about using loops when programming our algorithms. The children discovered how this makes coding more efficient and enjoyed applying this new skill in their work.

Check out our galleries to see some of the great learning we have captured this week.
