This week in Year 3
This week, we had a brilliant time visiting the Egyptology exhibit at Bolton Museum. The children loved exploring the artefacts and learning more about life in Ancient Egypt. The highlight for many was seeing a real mummy, which sparked lots of excitement and some fantastic questions. It was a wonderful opportunity to bring our History learning to life. Be sure to check out our gallery to see some of the highlights from the trip.
In English, we have continued our work on The BFG, exploring both Dream Country and Giant Country. The children used the rich descriptions from the story to help them imagine these magical settings and have been developing their own ideas through discussion and writing.

In Maths, we have been exploring decimals. The children have been learning how decimals relate to whole numbers and have been using practical resources and representations to deepen their understanding. Everyone has worked hard and shown great perseverance when tackling new concepts.
This week, we also enjoyed a fantastic Mindful Movement session with the South Ribble coaches. The children took part enthusiastically and learned different ways to relax, focus and look after their wellbeing through movement and mindfulness activities.
In RE, we revisited the story of the Last Supper and thought carefully about its importance for Christians. The children then created beautiful zig-zag books to retell the events and demonstrate their understanding of this important moment in Jesus’ life.

In Art, we evaluated the moving pictures we created last week and reflected on what had gone well and what could be improved. We then used this feedback to create new designs, focusing on making our mechanisms more effective and our finished products even better.
