Year 3 Blog Friday 20th May

Date: 20th May 2022 @ 12:52pm

Happy Friday everybody.

About a smile (or two) – Nicole Does Wellness

We have had a lovely week in Year 3.

We have spent a lot of time preparing for our Jubilee celebrations next week. We have been learning songs and doing art work, and even made a card that we are going to send to the Queen.

We will be performing the Ghostbusters theme to celebrate the 1980s.We enjoyed our Sports Day practice on Tuesday afternoon, and we finished off our PE lesson with some rounders and football.

In science we have been learning about our skeleton. We know that you need a skeleton for movement and to protect your vital organs, like you heart, brain and lungs. We also did a scientific enquiry to find out if people with bigger arm spans have longer legs.

In English we have been doing an extended piece of writing, we have added to our writing each day. We are looking forward to reading these to Year 4 on Monday.

In maths we have been learning about bar charts and pictograms. It has been tricky but everybody has tried really hard.

Online Safety Update

Below you will find this week's online safety guides on YouTube and YouTube Kids. In the guides you will find tips on a number of potential risks such as connecting with strangers and inappropriate content.

Home Practice

Reading:

Read out loud to somebody every night for 20 minutes. Talk about some of the good words used by the author.

Counting:

Count out loud in 3s from 0 to 36 and back again.

Count out loud in 10s from 675 to 805.

Count back in 1s from 224 to 199.

Times Tables:

Everybody has chosen their own times tables target this week. Make sure your practise every night.

Sumdog:

Complete the Sumdog challenges. It is really important to practise your spellings and times tables, and also some of the maths skills we will be using in class.

Spellings:

Here are your spellings this week. They are irregular past tense verbs. This means that when the verb is turned into past tense, it doesn't follow the usual rules.

sent          heard          thought          broke          brought          caught          drew          found          built          threw

Have an amazing weekend :)
