What a brilliant week of learning we’ve had in Year 3!

In English, we read Mammoth: Big Beast, Big City, Big Problem. The children wrote fantastic retells of the story in their own words, focusing on using when and if conjunctions and a range of sentence starters. Super effort, Year 3, your writing is really starting to shine!

In Maths, we’ve been learning the column addition method with 3-digit + 3-digit numbers. Everyone has shown fantastic focus when applying this new strategy. Next week we’ll be moving onto column subtraction, so keep practising those number facts at home; they really help build confidence and fluency!

In RE, we celebrated Saint Carlo Acutis and Saint Francis of Assisi. We explored The Canticle of Creation and sang Psalm 8, reflecting on how we can care for God’s world and follow in the footsteps of the saints.

In History, we continued our Stone Age to Iron Age topic and explored the invention of farming during the Neolithic period. There were some fantastic questions and discussions. Super history thinking, Year 3!

In Art, we took our charcoal drawings a step further and explored how early humans communicated through cave art. The children studied examples and then created their own expressive pieces using charcoal. Check out our gallery to see our artists in action!

In French, we finished our Greetings topic. Everyone had a brilliant go at pronunciation and worked confidently in pairs to practise their conversations. Très bien, Year 3!
