Home Practice
Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book.
This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.
MORE CHILDREN HAVE CHANGED THEIR READING BOOKS THIS WEEK.BRILLIANT!!!
A FEW MINUTES OF READING EVERY NIGHT REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE. THANKS.
Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!
Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (16.10.26):
beech beach see sea meet meat steel steal week weak
We have been learning about homophones.
The children need to learn the correct spelling and meaning.
Sumdog: Complete the 'Adding 1-digit numbers' challenge.
Counting:
At home, count in 10's forwards and backwards but start on a 1-digit number.
For example, 2, 12, 22, 32, 42, 52 or 7, 17, 27, 37, 47, 57 or 8, 18, 28, 38, 48, 58, 68.

English
This week we have become owl experts. We read pieces of non-fiction writing about owls and wrote down all the facts we could find.
We learnt about the features of a non-chronological report and wrote a plan for our own reports.
We also used non-fiction books from the library to write a book report.
Phonics
We have been revising igh as in light, i-e as in kite, ie as in tie.
Maths

The children have been adding/subtracting 2 digit numbers, 26+32 or 49-33 using tens and ones apparatus, lines and dots and by mental partitioning methods. We have also continued our work on number bonds to 10, 20 and 100. This came in useful when we were adding three 1-digit numbers together. For example, 3+5+7=15. The children calculated 3+7=10 first, then added the five to make 15.
RE
This week, we have revisited the sacrament of Baptism.
The children thought about the signs and symbols of Baptism (white garment, water, Baptismal Candle, oils) and what happens in Church when a baby is Baptised.

History
We leant all about what happened after the Great Fire of London. We compared before and after pictures to discover what had stayed the same and what had changed.
Forest School
We found and identified many creatures. We did some fantastic den building and showed great co-operation.
