Year 2

Welcome to your Friday Blog.

Home Practice

Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (13.03.26):

Monday   Tuesday     Wednesday     Thursday      Friday       Saturday      Sunday

Sumdog: Complete the money and spelling challenges.

Counting: Count forwards and backwards in 10 to 100 or beyond.

You could say them out loud or write the numbers down. Look at the pattern, what do you notice?

You could also work on your 2, 5, 10 or 3 times tables and doubling and halving.

Manfred the Baddie

English

We continued our learning through the story of Manfred the Baddie.

Everyone closely examined the picture of his hideout and discussed what features an effective hideout needs. We designed and labelled our own hideout.

We created our own Manfred The Baddie Quiz.

The Healing of the Paralysed Man (Luke 5:17-26) – Lo & Behold

R.E.

We read another Miracle - The Cure of the Paralysed Man.

The children discussed a piece of art work based on the story in detail and sequenced the story with pictures.

They also wrote speech bubbles and sentences to retell the events.

Forest School

We planted the seeds from our science lesson last week.

Art

We made some visual notes about the work of the artist Marela Zacaries.

We also sketched tulips and did some colour mixing in preparation for our Mother's Day cards.

World Book Day 2026 – making it meaningful - Education North Tyneside

World Book Day

Everyone looked brilliant in their costumes for World Book Day.

We read a lot of books and even had a parent come and read the end of day story to us.

We also went outside and read to Year 4. They thought Year 2 were really good readers!

Y2 thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Cherry Blossom in Japan - An in depth photography guide

We welcomed our visitors from Japan.

We are so lucky to have a student in Year 2. Mizuki is enjoying spending time with us and seeing how we learn.

There was no Golden Assembly this week as we had a wellbeing Yoga session with Beth, one of our South Ribble Coaches.
