Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (13.02.26):

wait      weight       mail     male       weak      week        sail         sale      pain    pane

Sumdog: Complete the missing numbers and spelling challenges.

Counting: Count forwards and backwards in 10 to 100 but start at a one-digit number not zero. For example, 3, 13, 23, 33, 43 or 7, 17, 27, 37.

You could say them out loud or write the numbers down. Look at the pattern, what do you notice?

You could also work on your 2, 5, 10 or 3 times tables and doubling and halving.

We wrote some facts about tortoises. We made some puppets of the characters and used them to act out the story. We learnt how to write in tortoise language , we wrote our name and messages in our new language. We planned our own Esio Trot story and we are going to write books next week.

We also followed some tutorials to draw in the style of Quentin Blake.

SPaG

We continued to learn some more homophones. We tested our knowledge with some quizzes.

Maths

We have continued our work on addition and subtraction this week with more of a focus on subtraction with exchange.

The children have been using base ten/lines and dots to help with this.

We have also been working out missing numbers in a number sentence when adding and subtracting for example, ?+12=20 or 23-?=18

Gymnasium Apparatus & PE Equipment Installation

PE

The children have been working really hard on their balances, jumps and rolls.

This week we got some of the apparatus out for them to put together sequences, which they demonstrated to the class.

R.E.

We listened to The Parable of the Lost Sheep and thought about it's meaning.

In response, the children did some lovely work in their booklets.

This week we completed a timeline that showed all the different technology that has entertained people over the last 60 years.

We learnt about the first televisions which were black and white, radios, personal cassette players, ipods and old games consoles.

Art

We used pastels to draw daffodils.

Forest School

We made some weather wands by tying ribbon onto sticks. We watched which direction the ribbons blew in.

Science

We carried out an investigation into how different materials can be changed. We worked in pairs to find out which materials could be squashed, twisted, stretched and bent.

We all contributed to the conclusions.
