Home Practice
Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.
Spelling: No spellings this week.
Sumdog: Complete the fractions challenge.
Counting: Work on counting in halves like we did in class.
For example, zero, a half, one, one and a half, two, two and a half, three, three and a half etc.
You could also work on your 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables/doubling and halving.

English
We finished The Diary of a Killer Cat by Anne Fine.
In the book the characters have to wash a rabbit so we read some instructions on how to clean a pet rabbit.
The children found out about the key features of instructional writing. We discussed the use of numbered points, pictures, time connectives and bossy verbs.
They planned and wrote their own set of instructions.

Maths
This week we moved onto our fractions topic.
The children learnt all about halves, quarters and a little bit on thirds. They understood a fraction is part of a whole and must have equal parts.

RE
After learning all about the symbols of the Advent Wreath we enjoyed taking part in a team quiz.
The advent wreaths we coloured and decorated look lovely.

Geography
We answered quiz questions all about the oceans of the world.
Science
We learnt about life cycles of butterflies and frogs. We drew a life cycle and labelled it.
Art
We used tracing paper to trace a picture of an animal. We then turned the tracing paper over and pressed on hard with our pencil to try to make a monoprint. It was quite tricky but we persevered.

D.T
Next Thursday is D.T Day. The children will be designing, building and evaluating a Tudor House.
If you haven't already, please could you send one or two small boxes into school (no bigger than a shoe box).
Many thanks.
