Reading:

In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book.

This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!

Sumdog:

Please complete the missing numbers challenge by Friday (11.07.25).

Counting:

Spend time counting in 3's forwards and backwards to 60 or even 100.

Times Tables:

Please keep learning the 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables (and division facts) ready for Y3.

Harry and the Jaggedy Daggers (Bottlenose Bay)

English

Year 2 are really enjoying our new book, Harry And The Jaggedy Daggers by Jan Fearnley.

We have made predictions about the characters, setting, storyline and ending and produced great story maps.

part whole model with 8 as the whole and 5 in one part and 3 in the other parta part whole model showing 8 minus 5 is 3.

Maths

Using part whole models has really helped everyone solve missing number problems this week.

The Parable of the Good Samaritan - Morality - GCSE Religious Studies Revision - WJEC - BBC Bitesize

RE

Our Bible story was The Good Samaritan.

The children retold the story on story fans and beautifully illustrated them.

Free Rounders Lesson Plans | Free PE

PE

In PE, we made our small games of rounders into two bigger games with more fielders and batters.

The rules changed slightly to make it more challenging, but everyone had a lot of fun. Some of the teachers joined in too!

Science

We planned an investigation to make a boat to carry Harry across Bottlenose Bay after his own boat has been smashed to smithereens.

We are going to make and test our boats next week. We discussed which materials would be best as the boat has to float, be waterproof and strong.

NSPCC

We had a visit from a lady from the NSPCC. She talked to us about keeping safe and who we could talk to if we had a problem.

Tag Rugby

We had a great session with our South Ribble coach. He taught us how to hold the ball, score a try, do a swing pass and pick up the ball without stopping.

We then had a game.

Moving Up Morning

We had our second moving up morning in Year 3. Mr Campbell was impressed with out listening.
