Home Practice

Reading:

In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book.

This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!

Spelling:

Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (09.05.25):

dropped   hopped   chased   looked   danced

dried    cried     tried      placed    raced

Sumdog:

Please complete the fractions challenge by next Friday.

Counting:

Starting at one quarter count forwards in quarters. For example, 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 1, 1 and 1/4, 1 and 2/4, 1 and 3/4, 2, 2 and 1/4, 2 and 2/4, 2 and 3/4, 3.

We enjoyed doing this in class and the children started to spot the pattern.

You could try counting in halves too!

Times Tables:

Great work on your division facts for 5 in order.

Next week, Thursday (08.05.25) we will quiz your knowledge of the division facts for 5, in a muddled order.

Pathway: Stick Transformation Project

Art

Our project this half term is stick people.

The children spent time in the nature area searching for the perfect stick to use for making their own stick people.

Back in class, they used their sketch books to explore and draw some of their great ideas.

Forest School

This week we did some wild weaving. This is really good for developing our fine motor skills, creativity and imagination. We carefully put the rubber bands on the base and then used grasses, leaves and flowers in our piece of work. Usually we do not pick anything but today we could pick a few things. At the end of the session we had a reflection, we told whoever was next to us what we liked about their work.

We also discussed the cotton tree seeds and how they are all being dispersed by the wind.

Science

We planted beans to investigation the effects of different conditions on germination.
