English
This week we started our new novel, The Diary of a Killer Cat by Anne Fine.
The children spent time looking at the front cover and the blurb, making predictions on what the story might be about. We talked about Tuffy the cat's good points and bad points.
The children also wrote some excellent speeches from Ellie's perspective (character) about the poor little bird.
The standard of writing is really improving in Year 2, great use of interesting words and conjunctions.
Keep up the good work!

Maths
This week we continued our work on statistics.
The children have been interpreting and creating their own tables, pictograms, bar charts and tally charts.

RE
The children re-told the story of The Annunciation of Jesus on a storyboard.
We also talked about the Advent wreath and started to decorate our own picture version.
Forest School
This week it was so cold but we were wrapped up and we didn't mind. There was some great child-initiated play.
Science
We learnt about how humans grow and devleop from newborn babies to adults and older people. We drew and labelled pictures of this.
Art
We used carbon paper to make prints. We were thrilled with how well this worked. We also used oil pastels to introduce some colour into the print.

D.T
We will be having our D.T Day soon. The children will be designing, building and evaluating a Tudor House.
Please could you send one or two small boxes into school (no bigger than a shoe box).

Library Trip
We had a lovely morning at Longton Library. The Librarian read stories to the children and they voted for their favourite.
After that, we made Christmas cards and the children really enjoyed exploring all the books and choosing their own to read.
