Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.
WE HAVE NOTICED THAT SOME CHILDREN HAVE NOT CHANGED THEIR BOOKS RECENTLY.
A FEW MINUTES OF READING EVERY NIGHT REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE. THANKS.
Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!
Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (03.10.25):
friend house school full pull one once ask our push
Sumdog: Complete the 'Addition/Subtraction' challenge.
Counting: At home, count in 2's, 5's and 10's forwards and backwards.

We have started learning through the story of The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark. The owl is called Plop. We wrote sentences to describe him, using adjectives and connectives.
In pairs, we discussed why he might be afraid of the dark and wrote some possible reasons for this.
We wrote in character as Plop.

The children learned how to add a 1 digit number to a 2 digit number, 26+4 and we looked at subtraction in the same way.
We have been counting in 10's and learning the 10x table.

The children have really improved their under arm throwing and catching. They have played various mini games and learnt about the importance of dodging to get away from a defender.
RE
The children have started to make their Noah's Ark puppets which they will use to act out the story.
We also read the story of God's Rainbow which explains God's promise, love and faithfulness.
Science
We learnt about the plants that live in a desert habitat. We discussed how the plants have adapted to survive in the desert.
Forest School
We talked about the Autumn Equinox which was on Monday. We talked about how this marks the start of Autumn and how day and night get equal time for a brief moment.
We went on a fungi hunt in our top field. We noticed the different shapes, sizes and colours. We know not to touch them.
