Home Practice

Reading:

In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book.

This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!

Spelling:

Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (06.06.25):

Sumdog:

Please complete the shape challenge by Friday (06.06.25).

Counting:

Starting at 0, count in twos forwards and backwards to 100 and beyond if you want!.

Snail Mail: With Pull-Out Postcards : King-Chai, Sharon: Amazon.co.uk: Books

This week we wrote our own versions of Snail Mail. We used envelopes and had some really great ideas. We carefully checked our spellings and made sure our book looked beautiful. We then went on a book tour and read our stories to the children in Reception, Year 3 and Year 4.

Maths

We have been learning about shape this week.

The children have named and discussed the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.

They used the following mathematical vocabulary, sides, edges, vertices, vertex and faces.

We found out more about Mary in our Collective Worship, wrote prayer cards to her and decorated them beautifully.

Sports Day was a great success.

The children were amazing and did so well, they showed super skills and sportsmanship.

We also enjoyed a session of cricket with a visiting teacher from South Ribble. He commented on Y2's excellent throwing and batting. 

 

Science

We came to some conclusions about the best conditions for beans to germinate and grow well.

We have brought some beans home to grow.

 

Forest School

We showed great teamwork when building our shelters. There was also excellent communication and resilience shown. We also had the wool out and super creativity was shown.
