Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (30.01.26):

blue      blew       new    knew    night    knight   see    sea    there   their

Sumdog: Complete the place value and spelling challenges.

Counting: Count forwards and backwards in twos to 100.

You could say them out loud or write the numbers down. Look at the pattern 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8. What do you notice?

You could also work on your 2, 5, 10 or 3 times tables and doubling and halving.

Count 10-100 | Count by 10 Song | The Singing Walrus

Maths

We started our new leaning on place value.

We spent time adding and taking 10 from multiples of ten, but also from other 1-digit/2-digit numbers. For example, 50+10= or 34+10=

We have also been ordering groups of numbers and using the tens digit to help work out the largest or smallest numbers.

We learnt that if the tens digit is the same, we then look at the ones digit to help us decide.

Science

We observed and drew pictures of different bulbs. We are going to plant them next week and watch them grow.
