Home Practice
Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.
Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (28.11.25):
clothes busy people water again
half money Mr Mrs parents
Sumdog: Complete the pictograms and spelling challenges.
Counting: Keep working on doubling and halving.
For example, double 1 is 2, double 8 is 16 or half of 50 is 25, half of 18 is 9.
Follow the link below to play 'Hit The Button' and practise doubling and halving.
You could also work on your 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

English
The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield.
The children planned and wrote their own version of the story, so instead of The Bear and the Piano, we had a selection of interesting stories.
A few examples were; The dog and the Guitar, The Elephant and the Flute, The Gorilla and the Drum and The Giraffe and the Violin.
Maths
We have been learning how to interpret tables, pictograms and bar charts.
PE
We had a fun dance session with a visiting teacher from South Ribble Council.
The children were very quick to pick up the dance routine and showed great movement.

Geography
We continued our work on the seven continents and five oceans of the world.
We learnt more about the oceans as habitats and the kind of creatures you could find there.

RE
We re-read The Annunciation of Zechariah (John the Baptist) (Lk 1:5-20)
Next week, the children will rewrite the story and illustrate it beautifully.

The children are doing so well during our Nativity Play rehearsals.
It will not be long now - Tuesday 9th December.

Art
We learnt about the work of an artist called Xgaoc'o X'are
We experimented with drawing our own animals in his style.

D.T
We will be having our D.T Day soon. The children will be designing, building and evaluating a Tudor House.
Please could you send one or two small boxes into school (no bigger than a shoe box).
