Date: 18th Sep 2025 @ 2:18pm
Year 2 have had another fantastic week, filled with lots of interesting and enjoyable learning.
Home Practice
Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.
Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!
Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (26.09.25):
says your they by here there where love come some
Sumdog: Complete the 'one more/less than' challenge.
Counting: Count forwards and backwards to one hundred.
Stop at random numbers. What is one more/less than that number? What is ten more/less than that number?
English
This week we all received a letter from Bakery Bill. He answered our qustions and told us how he's geting on. We wrote some instructions about how to look after a baby. We planned and wrote an alternative ending to his story. We also created and descibed a sweet item for his bakery.
Maths
The children have been learning how to work out one more/less than and ten more/less than a given number.
We have also been comparing two numbers and deciding which is the greatest or which is the least.
R.E
We re-read the story of Noah's Ark, focusing on the rainbow being a sign of God's promise (covenant) - never to send another flood again.
The children made their own rainbows and could write/draw the most important parts of the story.
History
Year 2 are thoroughly enjoying learning about The Great Fire of London. We learnt where the fire started and how it spread so quickly (causes).
Forest School
We all chose our own learning this week. There was leaf cooking, leaf identifying, stick wrapping, bug hunting and apple finding. Great imagination, co-operation and teamwork was shown.
Science
We learnt about different habitats around the world and the animals that live in them.
