Year 2 have had another fantastic week, filled with lots of interesting and enjoyable learning. 

 

Home Practice

Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Remember you will get a sticker on your book mark for every book you read!

Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (25.09.26):

Sumdog: Complete the 'Place Value' challenge.

Counting: Count in 2s, see how far you can go.

 

 

English

Burglar Bill

This week we all received a letter from Bakery Bill. He answered our qustions and told us how he's geting on. We wrote some instructions about how to look after a baby. We wrote a recount of the story. We also created and descibed a sweet item for his bakery.

Maths

The children have been learning how to work out one more/less than and ten more/less than a given number.

We have also been comparing two numbers and deciding which is the greatest or which is the least.

R.E

We re-read the story of Noah's Ark, focusing on the rainbow being a sign of God's promise (covenant) - never to send another flood again.

The children made their own rainbows and could write/draw the most important parts of the story.

 

 

History

The Great Fire of London – Early Years teaching resource - Scholastic

Year 2 are thoroughly enjoying learning about The Great Fire of London. We learnt where the fire started and how it spread so quickly (causes).

 

Forest School

We all chose our own learning in the nature area this week. There was leaf cooking, leaf identifying, stick wrapping, bug hunting and apple finding. Great imagination, co-operation and teamwork was shown.
