Home Practice
Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.
Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (21.11.25):
improve sure sugar eye could
should would who whole any
Sumdog: Complete the multiplication - arrays and spelling challenges.
Counting: We still need to work on doubling and halving so at home count doubles and halves.
For example, double 1 is 2, double 8 is 16 or half of 50 is 25, half of 18 is 9.
Follow the link below to play 'Hit The Button' and practise doubling and halving.

English
The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield.
The children wrote a setting description about Bear's forest using super noun phrases. For example - tall, bushy trees, crunchy, brown leaves or bright, sparkling sun.
We also wrote a letter to Bear to help him decide if he should stay in his forest or move to the big city.

Maths
We learnt about multiplication as repeated addition and arrays. Our knowledge of doubling helped us with this.
We also learnt about the pattern of 2s, 5s and 10s.

We had a fun fitness session with Freddy.
The children were full of energy and excitement, joining in with motivational music and games.

Geography
We continued our work on the seven continents and five oceans of the world.
We also discussed North, South, East and West and worked out which continent was north of Africa etc.

History
We learnt more about Remembrance day, made poppies and wrote our own poppy poems.

RE
We read The Annunciation of Zechariah (John the Baptist) (Lk 1:5-20)
The children got into groups of three and acted out the story.

It has been so exciting auditioning, choosing our parts and learning all the songs/actions for our Nativity Play.
Science
We learnt about how baby adults grow into adult animals and the different names, for example, a lamb grows into a sheep.
Art
We learnt about small drawing this week. We carefully looked at small objects and drew them in pencil. We thought carefully about how our wrists move when drawing and how important it is to keep looking at what we are drawing.
