Year 2

Welcome to your Friday Blog.

Home Practice

Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Spelling: Please practise these spellings for your quiz on Friday (20.03.26):

one       two      three   four    five      six    seven    eight    nine   ten

Sumdog: Complete the measuring and spelling challenges.

Counting: Count forwards and backwards in 5 to 100 or beyond.

You could say them out loud or write the numbers down. Look at the pattern, what do you notice?

You could also work on your 2, 5, 10 or 3 times tables and doubling and halving.

Manfred the Baddie

English

We finished our learning through the story of Manfred The Baddie.

We designed a poster to try and find the missing scientist after he was kidnapped by Manfred.

SPaG

We learnt how to use different suffixes such as -ly, -est, ed, ing, -er.

Balance Scale

Maths

We have finished our money topic and moved on to learning how to measure mass and capacity.

We practised reading different scales.

Holy Week – The Minster Nursery and Infants School

RE

The children recapped the events of Holy week by looking at religious art for each day.

For example Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Then they wrote about their favourite piece and why.

We also discussed Jesus' last words on the cross and decorated our own crosses with the words.

Forest School

We discussed how birds will start building their nests at this time of year.  We looked at a real birds nest. We noticed all the changes in the nature area. We did some great child- initiated learning. We wondered why there weren't as many ladybirds about as last week....was it because it was colder?

Science

We sorted, examined and drew different vegetable seeds. We looked closely at their shape, size and colour.

Freddy Fit Workshops

Everyone had a great time keeping fit with Freddy and enjoying the motivational music.

He also talked to us about healthy eating and getting enough sleep.

We said goodbye to our student from Japan, Mizuki. She has loved spending time in our class and we really enjoyed her lesson.
