Calcot Schools - Year 2

Home Practice

Reading: In Year 2, children should read for at least 15/20 minutes every night and talk about the book. This will help with understanding the text and learning new words.

Spelling: No spellings this week.

Sumdog: No challenge this week but you could work on the normal Sumdog games.

Counting: Count in halves like we did in class.

For example, zero, a half, one, one and a half, two, two and a half, three, three and a half etc.

You could also work on your 2, 5, 10 and 3 times tables/doubling and halving.

PE

We put together our final 'Fire Fire' dance which retold the events of The Great Fire of London through movement and dance.

The children had a lot of fun and performed really well.

Art

We used carrots to print a repeating pattern. We then used this print to make our Christmas cards.

D.T

D.T Day was a great success. The children worked so well to make their Tudor Houses.

Great attention to detail was shown and a lot of D.T skills were used, like cutting, glueing, folding and measuring.
