Welcome to your first Friday blog of 2026!

Maths challenge - Number bonds to ten
Phonics challenge - Dependent on phonics groups
Counting – Can you practise counting in tens quickly, from different starting points?
Reading - Please try and read at least three times a week.
Please remember to bring book bags each day.
English
We started to read our new book - Dragon Post. We created our own dragons and labelled them. We also drew pictures of the story and wrote sentences about them.
Phonics
Some of us learnt igh and ee.
Some of us finished learning the split digraphs.
Some of us recapped the split digraphs, then learnt the alternative sounds for g (j sound) and u (you sound).
Maths
We focused on the number bonds to ten and then practised using part-whole models for addition.
R.E.
We read The Presentation of Jesus where Simeon and Anna came to visit baby Jesus at the Temple. We labelled the people and talked about why Simeon and Anna were excited to meet Jesus.
We also started our RSHE topic about God's love. We discussed how we can show love to others and wrote thank you messaged to the people we love.
P.E.
We finished our dances from last half term.
P.E. will now be on a Thursday instead of a Friday.
P.S.H.E.
We learnt about the word 'appreciate' and how we can show appreciation to others, ourselves and for different experiences.
Art
We sketched different sculptures in our sketchbook.
Computing
We used the iPads and laptops to practise typing our name. We then tried to type our friends' names.
