Sumdog challenges

Maths - Missing number questions

Phonics - Sounds learnt this week

Counting - Please practise counting from 0 to 20, forwards and backwards.

Reading - We've had a drop in the number of children changing their reading books so please keep reading at home.

Please remember to bring book bags in each day.

English

We read a story about another polar bear called Leaf who, like Lars in The Little Polar Bear, was lost and wanted to return home. We role-played how Leaf was feeling, wrote sentences using exclamation marks and question marks, and researched facts about polar bears on the iPads.

See our pictures here.

Phonics

Some of us have been applying our phonics sounds when reading.

Some of us have continued to identify the different ear spellings, focusing on the ear sound in here

Maths

We have continued to complete addition and subtraction number sentences. We furthered our learning by understanding how to calculate missing number questions, using our fact family knowledge.

R.E.

We had a Collective Worship with Miss Gravili. We talked about how to be helpful.

P.E.

We went outside and completed a fitness orienteering session.

We also had a fantastic rugby session with Dave.

See our pictures here.

Science

We observed the change in temperature using thermometers. We identified how to read the scales together then compared the temperature in shaded areas to sunny areas.

See our pictures here.

PSHE

We discovered that we have three places that we go to depending on how we are feeling: a busy place, a middle place and a happy place. We want to stay in our happy place as much as possible but sometimes our brains go to our busy place. We recognised that we can use different techniques, such as happy breathing, to move between our places.

D.T.

We explored different joining techniques - gluing, stapling and using split pins.

See our pictures here.

Moving up morning

We had a great time in our new classroom. We made our new peg names ready for the next year.

Over summer, please complete the book that your child has been given!
