English

We continued to read The Lumberjack's Beard. We found out that the lumberjack had been chopping down all of the animals' houses! We acted out how the bird was feeling and wrote an apology letter from Jim.

Phonics

Some of us have been focusing on our phase 5 tricky words.

Some of us have learnt the three ow spellings: ow in clown, ou in cloud and ough in drought. Then we compared the two oi spellings: oi in spoil and oy in toy.

Maths

We have been learning how to make equal groups of objects, leading onto calculating the doubles up to 10 (double 10 = 20).

Then, we solved multiplication problem questions which required us to make equal groups of objects.

R.E.

First, we listened to Jesus' journey to Emmaus. We wrote our own speech bubbles, showing how the apostles felt when they walked beside Jesus.

Then we read about His ascension. We made some beautiful cloud mobiles. We drew pictures of the event and decorated the classroom with them.

Forest School

This week we did some wild weaving. This is really good for developing our fine motor skills, creativity and imagination. We carefully put the rubber bands on the base and then used grasses, leaves and flowers in our piece of work. Usually we do not pick anything but today we could pick a few things. At the end of the session we had a reflection, we told whoever was next to us what we liked about their work.

We also discussed the cotton tree seeds and how they are all being dispersed by the wind.

P.E.

We have been practising for sports day this week!

See our pictures here.

Geography

We identified features of a cold place, such as Antarctica. We spotted lots of ice, snow and animals, such as penguins.

Art

We sketched feathers and added detail using pen, pastel and charcoal.

See our pictures here.
