Home Practice - Sumdog

Maths challenge - Part-whole models

Phonics challenge - Dependent on phonics groups

Counting – Can you count in fives to 50? This is a bit trickier so count slowly!

Reading - Please try and read at least three times a week.

Please remember to bring book bags each day.

English

We continued reading our new book - Dragon Post. We wrote descriptive sentences about dragons and wrote lists describing what to do if we found a dragon.

We also practised our handwriting, focusing on writing letters on the line which are formed correctly.

Phonics

Some of us learnt the oa sound and focused on it all week to embed the learning!

Some of us focused on comparing ow in cow and ou in shout.

Some of us learnt ea in bread, ie in chief and ow in snow.

See our pictures here.

Maths

We continued to use part-whole models for addition. We added single-digit numbers to teen numbers.

See our pictures here.

R.E.

We continued to learn through the story of Jesus being presented at the Temple. We wrote in speech bubbles, identifying what Simeon and Anna said to God. Then we learnt about Candlemas and made our own colourful candles.

P.E.

We started our gymnastics unit. We learnt how to travel like a gymnast, how to perform a straight jump and a pencil roll.

See our pictures here.

P.S.H.E.

We drew a picture of someone who we are grateful for.

Geography

We discussed where we live and identified places we have been to in the UK.

Art

We compared different materials (which links perfectly to our upcoming Science learning!) and chose the materials which would be suitable for our medal.

Computing

We continued to learn how to type on a keyboard. This week, we wrote sentences about a lost teddy bear.

Science

We sorted animals into their food groups: carnivore, omnivore and herbivore.
