Autumn 2

Topic – Ready, Steady, Go

Drawing Club

This week we have read the story ‘The Quiet Little Firework’

The Quiet Little Firework: A small story that packs a big bang!: Amazon ...

The children have created their own rockets using junk model crafts and different materials. We then all drew our own firework and tried to label what noise it made.

On Wednesday the little firework found himself inside a magical garden – the children loved creating their own magical garden with glowing flowers and secret paths.

RE

This week in RE we have learnt about the celebration of Diwali.

We watched a video about how a family prepares for Diwali, including the things they buy and how they decorate the house with diyas and rangoli art.

We had a go at creating our own rangoli patterns outside with chalk and we decorated a hand template with mehndi patterns.

Understanding the World

This week we have been learning all about Bonfire night and Remembrance Day.

6,700+ Bonfire Night Illustrations Stock Illustrations, Royalty-Free ...

We watched firework and bonfire videos.

We spoke about the colours and the sounds we could see and hear.

We learnt about why celebrate bonfire night each year.

We also thought about how to stay safe on bonfire night.

We learnt what Remembrance Day is, why we wear poppies and meaning behind them.

We all had a go at making our own poppy craft by ripping and scrunching tissue paper.

 PSHE

This week we have been focusing on what makes us special, we looked at a lot of different sport activites and discussed if we liked or disliked them.

We enjoyed hearing how differnet everyone is.

We learnt a song about being special too.
