Welcome to Reception's Friday Blog!
Phonics
This week we learnt the digraphs qu, ch and sh.
We have been reading and writing them in words, for example; quack, chin and shed.
Drawing Club
We read the story Cops and Robbers. We made our own wanted posters and created our own plan to stop the robbers.
Maths
We have been learning about addition.
We have been using the part, whole model to help us visually see two amounts added together to make the whole.
RE
We recapped the story of Jesus blessing the children.
We then made a poster showing all the things we appreciate in our lives, like food, water, doctors etc.
We wrote a prayer for people around the world that do not have these.
Expressive Art and Design
We made our own Supertato’s.
Understanding the World
We discussed the role of the Police.
A Police Officer also came to see us to talk to us about his job.
We have also had and Intensive Care Nurse and an A&E Manager come to tell us all about their jobs. Such a busy week!
Forest School
We learnt how to tie a simple knot. We kept practising using a strawberry lace-then we made it disappear!
We went to our log circle and had a look for creatures under the logs, did some balancing and climbed trees. We noticed that there are no apples left on the tree but there are a few rotten ones still on the ground underneath it.
We have also had a fantastic trip to Longton Library!
