Welcome to Reception's Friday Blog!

 Phonics

 This week we have been learning the new sound f and we have learnt three diagraphs ff, ss and ll. We have found them in different words like, huff, fuss and bell.

Drawing Club

In Drawing Club, we have listened to the story ‘The 100 Decker Bus.’

We have really enjoyed designing our own decks to add to the bus.

Maths

This week we have been exploring the number 8.

RE

This week, our focus has been on journeys.

We have been talking about a long journey that we have been on and how it felt. We compared this to Mary and Joseph's journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem and how it was for them.

We then created the journey that Mary and Joseph took from Nazareth to Bethlehem. We did this by using construction equipment or drawing.

Expressive Art and Design

This week we have began a small art project. Our first one in Reception.

We are using the focus of ‘Using our bodies to make art’ and this weeks focus was printing with our bodies.

Understanding the World

We went out to the front of school and conducted a vehicle survey.

We carefully watched all the vehicles come past school and marked them off on our charts. We discovered that there are a lot of cars on the road (74 in 20 minutes) but only 1 bus!

This week did a dance to the music from Mary Poppins.
