Welcome to Reception

Autumn 1

Topic - Ourselves

We have continued our understanding of the world topic learning all about ourselves. 

This week we have focused on how we have grown and changed since being a baby. We looked at baby pictures of ourselves and thought about what we could do then and what we can do now.

We had a special visitor from Baby Rafe and his mummy, we asked lots of questions and found out lots of information about babies.

Drawing Club

Our new story this week is ‘Super Duper You’. 

We spoke about everybody being unique and different. 

We explored all the different things that we are good at and enjoy. 

We then created a Super-Duper Power in drawing club, the children thought about what their super power would be and enjoyed sharing the powers with their friends.

Maths

This week we have begun number land, exploring the number 1. 

Seeing the number in lots of different ways and playing the 1p shop game. 

Shared Reading

This week we have begun our traditional tale’s story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ 

We discussed the different characters in the story and the setting. 

We listened to the story and joined in the repeated phrases. 

Art

We explore the primary colours this week, create our own primary colour booklets.

We used different drawing materials to make marks and patterns to explore different shades of Red, Yellow and Blue.

PE

This week we continued to explore our fundamental skills, running with spatial awareness, throwing and catching, jumping and hopping.
