Welcome to Reception's Blog!

Welcome back to Summer Term 

Our topic this half term is Julia Donaldson. 

This week we are learning all about Space. 

Drawing Club 

We had started to read 'The Smeds and The Smoos' - this week we focused on describing the characters - Janet and Bill. 

Then we invented a game for them to play together in the warbler woods.

Maths

We have been ordering numbers to 10.

Finding one more and one less than a given number and comparing amounts.

Understanding the World

We have started to learn to names of the planets this week. 

Mercury, Venus and Earth.

In history, we started our new topic of 'The Royal Family'

Beginning with looking at our own families and growth.

Art

This week we have watered down paints and use pipettes to create a galaxy effect.

PE

We have been developing our fundamental skills. 

We raced around the planets and the moon. 

 PSHE 

We have started our new topic of goal setting. We created a class goal and spoke about why goals are benefical. 

FOREST SCHOOL

We went for a walk to look at all the new plants growing. We looked at the blosson on the trees. We discussed how the tulips will die away and make food in their bulbs so they will start to grow again next year. We picked leaves from the rosemary and mint plants and discussed how they smelt.

We also did some great child-initiated learning in the nature area.
