Welcome to Reception's Friday Blog!
Phonics
This week we have been consolidating all of the sounds that we have learnt.
Drawing Club
In Drawing Club, we have continued listening to the story; ‘Coming to England.’
We have designed our own bedrooms.
Maths
This week we have been exploring the number 7.
RE
We have been learning about the word Advent and that it is a time when we wait for Jesus to come.
We listened to the story The Littlest Watchman and then we made our own class Advent Wreath.
Understanding the World
This week we have been using google maps to explore our capital city, London.
We also listened to the Queen’s Hat and spotted some of the landmarks.
PE
This week did hopping and skipping and travelling in different ways.
We have also taken part in the whole school dance festival. See the photos here.
Forest School
We listened to a story about kind Mr Bear, he lives in the forest and helps all his friends but they started taking him for granted. We discussed how it's important to help others.
We made some bird feeders by threading Cheerios onto a pipe cleaner- Great for our fine motor skills. We hung them on the trees.
We then discussed how to be safe around a fire. We watched Mrs Corbett light a fire and boil some water in the Kelly Kettle. We knew when the water had boiled because we heard the whistle.
We had a drink of hot juice around the fire to keep us warm.
Try to remember to bring named hats and gloves to school, especially on Thursday.
Trip to the British Vehicle Museum
What a great trip we had today.
All of the children were extremely well behaved and enjoyed exploring all of the different vehicles.
A big thank you to everyone who came to our Maths Workshop.
If you could not attend, here is a copy of the presentation.
