Welcome to Reception's Friday Blog!
This week we have been learning all about the life cycle of a frog.

Drawing Club
In our drawing club time, we had a go at writing the different stages of the life cycle. Some children labelled the pictures and some children had a go at writing sentences.
Phonics
We recapped ch, sh ,th, ng, qu, ai, ee, igh, oa
she, he, we, be, me, we, was, you, they, my, her, are
Our new sounds are the long 'oo' and the short 'oo'
The long 'oo' such as food, moon, zoo and the short 'oo' such as cook, hook, wood.
The children are working hard on their letter formation at the mintue and trying to write their words on the lines.
Maths
In Maths this week our focus was addition and subtraction with number sentences.
For subtraction this week, we were all given a different subtraction number sentence, we used the sentence and our part whole model to find the answer.
For addition, we thought about what number was already made on the ten frames, we had to decide how the amount had been made and to extend ourselves we then wrote the addition number sentence!
Wow such a big job for Reception, Well done everyone!

7 + 3 = 10
Art
In Art, we created spring flower pictures.
As an independent challenge this week, the children had a go at drawing in detail, using a magnifying glass to look closely at a flower and selecting the correct colours to draw it.
Understanding the world
We had a special lesson from the Japanese Students this week, they taught us all about how they celebrate the new year in Japan, we learnt, that it was a bigger celebration than christmas to them.
We had a go at playing some of the games they would play.
The children really enjoyed themselves.
Make sure to check out our galleries to see all our brilliant learning from this week!
