Year 6 Home Practice - Friday 25th June 2021

Date: 25th Jun 2021 @ 3:51pm

Welcome to our Year 6 blog. This week Year 6 have worked incredibly hard during the rehearsals for the Charlie and the Chocolate factory production with plenty of excellent acting. Roll on next week where we will be adding in the songs and creating dances – very exciting!

Our learning in Year 6 this week:

  • In Maths, we have started to understand how algebra is used to represent number sequences and formulas.
  • In English (and PSHE), we have continued to read/watch our novel Wonder and learnt more about the many characters in the story. We have discussed and written what it was like for Auggie on his first day at school.
  • In PE, we have completed the Cross County competition, using the whole school grounds. Even though it was tough for many, everyone pushed themselves to complete it.
  • In Music, we had a super time gathering together (socially distanced of course) on the field to celebrate World Music Day as a school. Check out the video which is on our St Oswald’s YouTube channel.
  • In French, we have been recapping our learning over the term and practicing a French song for the Leavers’ assembly.
  • For Science, we used the periscopes created at home to investigate how they work and drew a ray diagram to explain it.
  • Also, Year 6 had a visit from Miss Rebecca who gave us a Mindfulness session to help us understand our feelings better and how to deal with them, especially when we think about our first day at high school. Don’t forget R.A.P = recognise, accept, process. Thank you Miss Rebecca!
