Sacramental Programme – Session 4

Year 4 had an interesting and informative session in church on Monday. The children listened respectfully and asked some very thoughtful questions.

This week, the children learnt more about the celebration of Mass and the people who help to prepare for each Mass.

There are many people who work together to prepare for our celebration of Mass.  All these people have a variety of skills and talents and they help to make each Mass special.  These people are usually volunteers who take turns so that everyone has a chance to help.

During the session, the children met some of the people who help with Mass and learnt what their job and responsibilities are.  These people included: the Sacristan, Altar Server, Eucharistic Minister, Priest, Reader and Welcomer.

The session finished with the children saying a prayer together whilst stood on the altar.

Your children will have brought home a sheet they completed during their time in church and a discussion in school. Please have a look at the sheets your child has brought home and discuss these with them.

We appreciate your time and support in helping your children understand the significance of the work they are completing as part of their Faith Journey.
