Year 3 Blog Friday 17th June

Happy sunny Friday :)

We have had such an exciting week in Year 3. 

We have been researching the game of Quiddich and using the library at Hogwarts to find our all about the sport. We have all written some fantastic reports on how the game is played and what equipment is needed.

On Monday we were looking at real animal bones in our science lesson. We tried to identify which animal the bones came from and what the bones were used for. We used some of our scientific vocabulary we have learnt in this topic - vertebrate (an animal with a spine) and invertebrate (an animal without a spine).

On Tuesday afternoon we had the best time taking part in Year 3 Sports Day. Everybody earned house points for their house, cheered each other on and had a brilliant afternoon. Mrs Wood told us that our behaviour was outstanding!

We had a super day on Thursday at Cuerden Valley Park for our school trip. The sun was shining and we all had a fantastic time. We enjoyed going in the river in our wellies to do our river studies. In the afternoon we did some Harry Potter themed activities including orienteering and potion making. We finished off the day with a game of Quidditch which was very exciting.

Home Practice

Read out loud every night for 20 minutes. Try to spot conjunctions and how they are used (as, because, although, even though, so, when, if). 

Count out loud in:

30s from 0 to 360 

50s from 0 to 600

40s from 0 to 480

Access the Sumdog challenges - try to do 10 minutes every night. 

Times Tables

Practise the division facts for the 3x tables. 

For example:

1 x 3 = 3           3 ÷ 3 = 3

2 x 3 = 6           6 ÷ 3 = 2
