Year 5 Indian Art

Henna Hand Art or Mehndi, is a very famous art among women in Asian countries of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Middle East.  It is applied during Hindu festivals and weddings. Mehndi is used to beautify the body. It is applied on hands, palms, legs and shoulder.

Rangoli Patterns are colourful designs drawn on the floor, near to the entrance to a house, to welcome guests. During Diwali, Hindus draw bright patterns to encourge the goddess Lakshmi to enter their homes.

Elephant Art.

Asian cultures admire the high intelligence and good memory of Asian elephants. As such, they symbolise wisdom and royal power.In India the Elephant is a treasure and sometimes also a work of art.
