At St Oswald’s we encourage every child to see themselves as real writers. We give them real purposes to write and at every stage we encourage the children to have a go.
At Golden Assembly we have a Superstar Writer of the Week from every class. This award recognises attempts at writing sentences in Reception through to publishing high quality re-drafted pieces of writing from all genres in Y6. The ‘Writing Diet’ at St Oswald’s is rich, varied and of a very high quality. Many of our children at the end of Key Stage 2 achieve higher levels in their writing which is only possible by having consistently great opportunities to write in every year group.
Best way to be a great writer is to be an avid reader as your child will be absorbing great vocabulary and hearing the way language can be used which is why every class studies so many novels!
