What a great effort from everyone at St Oswald’s! Buddy’s Workout was a huge success with everyone joining in and breaking a sweat to raise money for the NSPCC. Thank you and well done to our school council for planning and arranging the whole day! Remember to return your sponsor forms to school.

Young Voices 2020

A memorable day at Young Voices at the M.E.N in Manchester. Everyone was fantastic and sang their hearts out. Well done once again to our amazing choir.

What an amazing experience for all at St Oswald’s. The Grinch didn’t disappoint. Everyone was on the edge of their seats for the entire performance and have been left with life long memories! Happy Grinchmas everyone!

European day of Languages

Everyone had a great time celebrating European Day of Languages on Friday. Thank you to all our guests who came and read to our children. C’etait magnifique!


Another great week of learning.We wrote to Prince Charming, measured our shoes and investigated the inside of a pumpkin. We also went on a successful Ladybird hunt on a beautiful Autumn day. Our week ended with a special ball and the Harvest Festival.

Freddie Fit 2018

Lancashire Athletics Finals

St Oswald’s Athletics Team had once again made it to the Lancashire Finals in Blackpool. They were up against 15 other top ranking schools in Lancashire. After a tough competition, the team ended up in 9th position. A huge achievement for everyone involved!

Indoor Athletics South Ribble Finals

Year 5 and 6 Athletics Team were once again competing in the South Ribble finals against the top teams across Penwortham, Longton and Leyland. Indoor Athletics Competition Y5/6

The Year 5 and 6 indoor athletics team took part in a competition at All Hallows High School. They were against 8 other primary schools and competed brilliantly. Everyone performed exceptionally as individuals and as a team. When the results came in, St Oswald’s won gold which put us through to the South Ribble Finals.

World Book Day

Year 5 dressed up as their favourite book characters for World Book Day.

St Oswald’s Euro 2016

St Oswald’s celebrated the Euro 2016 with a tournament for Year 3, 4, 5 and 6. The competition lasted all day with the group stages in the morning and the semi finals and finals in the afternoon in front of the whole school. Congratulations to everyone who took part with lots of excellent teamwork!

Year 1 and Year 2 Sports Day

Well done to all our year 1 and 2 Olympians! A fantastic effort in all their races and well done for a great display of sporting achievement.

Celebration Lunch for the Queen’s Birthday

Our super kitchen team once again pulled out all the stops to create a superb celebration lunch!

Year 3/4 Gymnastics Competition

A Year 3 and 4 team were taken to Walton-le-Dale High School to compete against 14 other teams. After a long morning of fantastic team work and excellent performances, St Oswald’s won the event. Great work team! Now on to the Blackpool Finals in July!

Chicks in year 1

A magical week in Year 1. Our Chicks arrived in style and made a home with us in our class. We watched them hatch and grow and recorded everything in our chick diaries. We were sad to see them go but look forward to hearing updates from the farmer on how they are getting on in their new home. Well done on a super few weeks year 1!

Mother’s Day Class Assembly

Well done to our Year 1 class on a super Mother’s Day Assembly!

We had a busy week getting ready! We made some lovely cards, bookmarks and pebbles. After our assembly we invited all our mums to come to our class for some juice and biscuits.

Lancashire Finals Indoor Athletics

After two amazing performances from the Indoor Athletics Team, Year 5 and 6, we progressed to the County Championships. This was held in Accrington where the top 16 schools from all areas of Lancashire came to compete. Another great performance from all the team which helped us finish 9th!  


WOW! What an amazing show!! A huge congratulations to all of KS2 for working so hard to perform such a fantastic performance of Oliver. The Year 6 children deserve a special mention for their outstanding acting and singing. Well done!

Y6 Visit to Nîmes October 2015

Year 6 had a fantastic time on their French exchange trip to Nimes.

St Oswald’s Golden Jubilee Flower Festival

This weekend we had a beautiful flower festival to celebrate our Church’s Golden Jubilee. Our church building was completed in November 1965 and has been the heart of the Catholic community in Longton for the past 50 years.

Year 3/4 Sports Day

With the heatwave hitting the UK, Years 3 and 4 had a difficult task to compete in their events for Sports Day. Both years did brilliantly trying their hardest for their houses. Well done to everyone for giving it their all during this very hot day!

Art Week in year 5

Year 5 art was inspired by the work of artist Frank Stella.

Year 3 Gymnasts Compete

Five children from Year 3 were chosen to represent St Oswald’s school for the Gymnastics competition held at Walton le Dale High School where they had to memorise a floor routine and a vault routine. Every single one of the team enjoyed the morning, performed really well and were great ambassadors for the school.

Football Remembers 2014

Year 5 and 6 have commemorated the 1914 Christmas Truce where the British and German soldiers had set aside their weapons and met in ‘No Man’s Land’. Just as the soldiers did, the Juniors sang Silent Night in English and German and then enjoyed taking part in a ‘Football Remembers’ competition.

Year 5/6 Athletics Victory!

Our athletes gave a sterling performance at All Hallows this past week which resulted in an amazing victory over four other schools. Well done everyone!

Year 4 visit to Formby Point and the Eco Centre Southport

Year 4 spent a wonderful day exploring the different habitats at Formby Point and considering the various forms of coastal defences on the beach. The weather was perfect for us and the children all gained much new knowledge to complement their studies in class.

Year 6 Girls Cricket Competition 2013

The Year 6 girls competed in their first ever cricket competition, with both the A and the B team just missing out on a place in the semi-finals. But they had a great time in the gorgeous weather and showed real St Oswalds team spirit. Well done girls!

Year 3 had a fantastic time at Ribchester Museum! They were able to hold Roman artefacts, see real Roman ruins and try on replica Roman armour!

Yr 2 compete in the Olympics.

Well done to all our year 2 pupils who took part in our Olympic event. The overall tournament was won by Ireland and all the children showed their Olympic spirit by cheering on their own countries!

PTFA Race Night

Race Night was a great success! Many thanks to all those who supported the event.

Lion King half-term musical theatre production.

The children enjoyed a half-term full of singing, dancing and acting. The performance at the end of the week was amazing. Richard Wood will be back for the first week of the summer holidays with ‘Grease’. Book your places early!
