Happy Friday and welcome to your Friday Blog. 

We have had a great first week back. 

In maths we have been simplifying fractions and converting fractions to decimals. This was really tricky at first but everybody tried their best and should be so proud! Next week we will be multiplying four-digit numbers by one-digit numbers. Make sure you are confident with your tables. 

In English we started our new class novel - The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S.Lewis. We are really loving it so far. We have been using exciting sentences to describe the professor from the story. Our aim was to intrigue the reader so they want to read more about him. 

We were having a go at writing complex sentences with relative clauses, here are some examples:

The professor, who had never said a word, crept around the house. 

His eyes, which were dark and narrow, seemed to look right through Lucy. 

In art we completed our topic on William Morris. We carved a pattern in the style of William Morris into a polystyrene block. We then painted onto it and used it to print repeated patterns onto a piece of card. The finished pieces all look amazing and are all so unique! Well done everybody!

In history we looked a photos of two schools in Preston during the Victorian era. We looked closely at the images and thought about the similarities and differences between those schools and schools in Preston today. 

Some of the similarities included the wearing of school uniforms and sitting at desks. 

Some of the differences included the amount of children in one room, the layout of the classroom, and the things on the walls.
